Some Punishment This Is

Will the shunning and castigation ever end for Don Imus? The exiled radio personality has received some additional punishment for his insensitive and not so nice remarks aimed at the Rutgers girls basketball team. If losing his radio program on CBS along with his self-effacing apology wasn’t enough, now CBS is really pouring it on. According to a news release I read on Drudge this morning, CBS has apparently settled Imus’ employment contract for $20 Million large. In addition, the article stated that Mr. Imus has also agreed not to disparage the network.

Not a bad pay day for eating a little humble pie, hey? Maybe Katie Couric should take note before it’s too late and tick off Al Sharpton too.

I never listened to the former Don Imus radio show but I saw him on TV several times. At first glance I though Imus was somewhat caustic and unkempt but I guess it really doesn’t matter. If I had $20 Million of new found cash in hand, I’d take off my spaghetti bib, scream stinging insults, and have a foul mouthed food fight.

So … let me get this straight. Don Imus gets Al Sharpton’s boxers in a bunch which is a good thing. Imus gets a four-month paid vacation and a cool $20 million from CBS. CBS gets kicked in the jewels for laying its palms down to a race pimp like Sharpton, and for cowering to the pressures of political correctness. Now the bidding will start for a return to the airwaves for Imus which means more millions. Good for the I-Man.

What say you?
