Interesting Quote

Here is an interesting quote from the incessant Democratic presidential candidate from Cleveland, OH. — Mr. Dennis Kucinich.

“We need all of the children in this country to learn Spanish at an early age, not English only!”

As I was growing up in Erie, PA., my late father would constantly preach the following things to me in hopes that through some stroke of luck, it would sink in. Needless to say, I paid heed to very little of his fatherly advice.

  1. “Take typing in high school because it will keep you out of a foxhole.”
  2. “Learn Spanish because someday you will need to speak it in this country because I predict the Mexicans will invade this Country!”
  3. “Don’t marry that girl…take a look at her mother for crying out loud! Pay the child support! Eighteen years goes by fast.”

In hindsight, I should have taken heed to all of my father’s good advice but I was a hard headed kid just like my mother. I only heard the part about typing but instead of training to be a clerk typist, I still ended up learning to dig a foxhole and getting “flatter than flat” in Advanced Infantry Training prior to joining the 42Inf. Div, 2nd. Bn of the 112th Infantry, PARNG. Much to my delight however, I was the only boy in my high school typing class of 31 which made my odds pretty good for a fun weekend. Regarding marrying “that girl.” As luck would have it, I didn’t listen and I married her and just as dear old dad predicted, the marriage turned out to be a complete and total nightmare. Finally and regretfully so, I didn’t learn to speak Spanish.

I can’t begin to tell you how much I wish I would have learned Spanish in school. It was however my choice not to take the course and as a responsible person I admit it was a huge mistake. Having lived in several large southern cities during my lifetime, it would have been very helpful and to my advantage to speak the Spanish language. However, I don’t feel it’s the governments’ job to make it mandatory for an American child to learn the Spanish language. I do however strongly feel it’s the governments’ duty to require Spanish speaking children in this country learn English. The last time I checked this was America and our language is in fact English. Dennis Kucinich is a bona fide left wing loon and he never fails to surprise me with his socialistic comments.

I agree we have a growing divide between those who speak English and those who don’t in this country. Could you imagine if our grandparents refused to learn English when they arrived in America? Do you think this country would have been as successful as it has if everyone just remained isolated in their cultural bubbles? I don’t. The problem is our leaders need to grow some b**** and declare English as our official language. Most people are not aware that we don’t have an official language in this country. I don’t care if people are offended, I see it as a matter of national security and a key to our future growth. There is a difference between immigration and an invasion, we are leaning periously toward invasion.

A good example of a society that is divided into cultural divides is Iraq. It just doesn’t work unless everyone is on the same page.
