Memories of Fall
Category: General, Memories, MillcreekWhat a gorgeous Fall season this has been. This is my first official Fall season living back “up North” in nine years and it couldn’t be any better. When I was a kid growing up in West Millcreek, we kids would ride our bikes through the Charter Oaks area just to smell the burning leaves on our way to Ketzel’s or Putnam’s Woods. Some smells seem to stick with you your entire life and in my particular case, the smell burning leaves is one of them.
Just prior to leaving Erie we owned a home in the Frontier area and the smell of burning leaves permeated the air on any given day of the week. Daily morning walks in that area of town were spectacular during the Fall months and I was in hog heaven. I subconsciously would think of those beautiful days in the Frontier and South Shore areas during those warm and sunny Autumn days while living in Florida. As easy as it was to let go of those long cold Erie winters, when it came to Fall, I just couldn’t let go.
