The Hill Street Blahg

We flew AirTran out of BWI on Tuesday evening without a glitch and arrived in Tampa 15 minutes ahead of schedule. Although the airport was crowded with TD travelers, everything appeared to be business as usual. Upon our arrival in Tampa, our baggage was in the baggage area in record time and Avis had my car ready in no time. Actually, this was one of our more pleasurable flight experiences, despite all of the negative media hype. Hopefully our return flight on Saturday evening will be just as enjoyable. Just goes to show you how the media likes to stir the pudding on everything from Hurricanes, winter storms, air travel, and Hillary.

The weather here in Tampa is outstanding as usual and I can’t begin to tell you what it is like to eat your TD dinner in the lanai next to the pool in shorts, T-shirt and sandals. I look forward to it every year and cannot wait to move back full time to the Sunshine State or somewhere in between. The South is definitely my element. Nothing beats putting up the Christmas decorations in your shorts the day after TD and taking them down on New Years Days while wiping the sweat of your brow. The only downside to Florida living is there is no autumn and the natural beauty it has to offer.

As always, the grandkids love to see us and we spoil them rotten with all the attention and such. But, lucky for G’ma and myself…we can enjoy them while we’re here and let the parents deal with whipping them back into shape after we leave. I just wish we could be with all of our grandkids during the holidays but with everyone living so spread out, it’s difficult so we just try to do the best we can.

On this TD, our family has very much to be thankful for as I’m sure everyone else’s family does. Please don’t forget our valiant soldiers in your blessings today because they will not be with family and that can be tough during the holidays.
