A Must Read Book
Category: Books, Conservatism, Government Madness, LiberalismI just finished reading a well written book titled Power to the People, written by nationally syndicated radio talk host Laura Ingram. This #1 New York Times bestseller is a fantastic book and I recommend everyone read it. The author provides an insight into what is truly important in our lives and how we must hold on to these values which our founding fathers modeled the foundation for our Nation’s creation, its Constitution, and our Bill of Rights.
The following quote is taken from the books back cover. Ms. Ingram writes:
Whether you know it or not, many of the most important choices of your life are being made for you. They are being made by out-of-touch politicians, agenda-driven edu-crats, haughty life-tenured judges, and executives in a polluted entertainment industry – all of whom believe they know better than you. Responsibility and accountability are principals that they preach but do not practice. They have their agendas – and when little people get in the way, watch out. They are perpetrating a massive power grab. Watch your wallet. Hide your children. Lock up the livestock. They’re coming to get you.
Think about it. We’re seeing everything she describes above taking place before our very eyes and we as trusting citizens sit there allowing our freedoms to be slowly stripped away from us. A few examples might be; The light bulbs we’re allowed to use, the cars we’re told to drive, the bags we’re told to bring our groceries home in, the doctors we told to use, the schools our children attend and curriculum they’re taught, the Judeo-Christian beliefs we must hide from public view, how much money we can earn, and I could further expound if room on these pages permitted. Please read the book.

There was a time when the government stopped cars from being made. Rubber, gasoline and sugar were strictly controlled and rationed. The government even made people turn off their lights at night! Factories were converted to the production of good for the government. Hollywood cranked out propaganda at the orders of the governemtn. It was WWII!!! And the Democratic controlled government did what was necessary to win.
Bush claims the War on Terror is the ideological battle of our generation. It is WWII all over again but now we are fighting the Axis of Evil! So shouldn’t the government control our lives once again? You want America to win don’t you?
Sean,
Your anology is so weak and devoid of any historical signifigance that I find it difficult to comment. Quite simply, nothing is the same as it was during WW II and the things she talks about are unrelated to the war effort. Read her book and then comment further.
You should have been reading other books a long time ago instead of getting your head filled daily with Rush Limbaugh crap. You might start with reading FIASCO and then follow that up with IMPERIAL LIFE IN THE EMERALD CITY.
Then you might start to understand the inept bunch of fools you faux patriots have been supporting for the last several years.
Likely you wont read any books exposing the idiocy of the Bush bunch, instead you will wave your flags, put ribbons on your car, and wait for the next pronouncements from Limbaugh and Hannity so you will know what to think and say.
You’re right, during WWII we had competent leadership. It’s your neocon heroes who have been trying to make their bogus war on terror the WWII of our times.
Sean…please.
How in the heck did WWII get into this? Not once did I mention it…not once did the book mention it…and what the heck does it have to do with anything related to this post? The blog posting was about a great book I read for crying out loud. Take Steady Teddy’s and my advice and read the book.
And you U.C. Joe — thank you for your typical comment and book recommendations. I was unaware that Liberals read books. It was my understanding they just watched TV, absorbed the propaganda, and voted on the basis of urges. You really need to attend anger management classes my bloggy friend.
How did WWII get into this? You’re joking right. I didn’t read any complaining from you when Bush claimed that his war on terror is the ideological battle of our generation. Just as WWII was the ideological battle of an earlier generation. The necons say the 9/11 is Pearl Harbor all over again. Much like WWII in which we fought the evil Axis Powers we now fight the Axis of Evil. Saddam is compared to Hitler etc. You were fine with all of that.
During WWII the government had extensive control of the economy. It told people what they could buy and when, and it told factories what to build. So if as the necons claim we are in another version of WWII, why shouldn’t we expect the government to exercise the same controls.
