Why Do They Hate Us

Tonight at midnight, the law that allows the government to eavesdrop on terrorists expires. The Democrat led House of Representatives, under the leadership of Speaker of The House Nancy Pelosi opted for a 12-day recess rather than extend or make the existing law permanent. This has to be the most irresponsible act to date by the Democratic leadership and they need to be held accountable for their inaction. Why do these people hate America?

The Democratic Leadership in this country has made it nearly impossible for our President and our military to execute the war on terror. The lefties in this country have spent 5 years attempting to block every effort to keep our country safe. It’s shameful and these people need to have their feet held to the fire because of it. The media and all responsible Americans need to bring this issue to the forefront with B. Husein Obama and Hillary Clinton during the primaries.

Jonah Goldberg has an interesting essay today at Townhall.com with the subject matter being waterboarding. As everyone knows, the left have been up in arms over this for some time now. In my humble opinion, I don’t think we should stop at waterboarding. We need to expand on our methodology of information gathering, despite what the hate America crowd thinks.

Mr. Goldberg’s essay is titled A Few Minutes Well Spent. Here is an excerpt from the essay.

For several years, human rights groups, the media and partisan opponents of the Bush administration and the war on terror have tried to portray the U.S. as a “torture state” that has completely abdicated its decency, its principles and even its soul under the leadership of a president who believes in an ominous-sounding “unitary executive” branch. We’ve been barreling down a “slippery slope,” making America indistinguishable from Hitler’s Germany and Stalin’s Russia.

Yet none of these interrogations were the result of a “rogue” CIA or the mad whims of a “torture presidency.” The relevant Democratic congressional leadership for intelligence - including current House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Jay Rockefeller and former Sen. Bob Graham - were briefed on CIA operations more than once. “Among those being briefed, there was a pretty full understanding of what the CIA was doing,” Porter Goss, who chaired the House Intelligence Committee from 1997 to 2004 before becoming CIA director, told The Washington Post. “And the reaction in the room was not just approval, but encouragement.”

I agree with Goldberg when he made the point (elsewhere) that when the chips are down, Democrats will back away from all the principles they claim they hold. It’s really all talk, which could be expected when you believe in nothing.

For a second example, Hillary’s campaign says it won’t alter the Bush tax cuts upon entering office, given the weakness in the economy. Of course, this raises the question why they would support massive tax increases at any point if they acknowledge that it hurts the economy. But they will, as soon as they think it’s safe to squeeze more from the people to expand the power of the state, in the name of fairness, and prosperity be damned.

This is just their nature–security be damned, in the name of opposing this president.

The question for conservatives is whether it would be better for the country to let these people run the country to prevent them from being so keen to destroy it.

What say you?
