An Example of Responsibility

It was reported yesterday that the president has endorsed General David Petraeus’ plan to put an indefinite hold on troop withdrawals in Iraq after July. He also announced U.S. troop combat tours would cut be from 15 months to 12 months, and said Army units will have a year of rest for every year of combat.

With all of the Democrat obstructionism going on between Congress and the Bush Administration, it was good to see President Bush do what was right for for our country and the Iraqi people. The President did what any morally responsible leader is suppose to do. He refused to cave in to the irresponsible Democrat leadership in Congress and took the advice of an authentic four-star General by the name of General David Petraeus.

Of course the usual suspect goal post movers in congress couldn’t wait to get in front of the cameras to once again display their complete failure of leadership. What they actually displayed was their misguided ability to put political pomposity ahead of responsibility. Here’s what the armchair Generals in Congress had to say shortly following the Bush announcement.

“The president has taken us into a failed war. He’s taken us deeply into debt. And … that debt is taking us into recession. We need some answers from the president,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said.

General Pelosi went on further to say as she was joined in her criticism of Bush by Senate Majority Leader and military expert Harry Reid, D-Nev.

“He is just dragging this out so he can put it at the doorstep of the new president of the United States…”

The Democrats in Congress just can’t accept the fact that the surge in Iraq has worked and once again has proved them wrong. Why would any responsible leader of our country want to pull out now when the sacrifices our brave soldiers have made are about to bear fruit? Americans may not approve of how this war has been managed over the last five years, myself included, but we Americans don’t like being losers either. Americans like to win and Senators Clinton and Obama might take note of that undesputible fact.

Its kind of funny, if not so sad. You list quotes from Pelosi that are 100% accurate and somehow you are trying to make some counterpoint with them. I notice you didnt really take the time to point out exactly what was wrong with her statements.
You should have highlighted the quote of Bush saying he was trying to do what is right for our country and for Iraq and tried to explain that.
The president has been an utter failure with an accompanying cadre of appointed and selected failures to support his failures. I’m just glad its nearly over and hopefully bright sensible people will soon be at the helm to get the country back on course before it becomes a third world country looking for handouts from Europe.

What say you?
