Pope Benedict XVI couldn’t have chosen a more appropriate time to make his papal journey to the United States. I watched bits and pieces of this historical event throughout his stay, including glimpses of The White House reception and the Pontiff’s Mass in Yankee Stadium. In addition to those events, I also caught moments of the Pontiff walking among huge crowds of young believers and I did watch last evening as Benedict XVI boarded his Alitalia Jet for the return trip home. Sorry to say, I missed the Pontiff’s visit to Ground Zero on the final day of his American journey where he blessed the site of the 9/11/2001 Islamic terrorist attacks and he humbly pleaded to God to bring “peace to our violent world.”

One thing which touched me the most was the Pontiff’s “beatical sweetness” as FOX News Anchor Brett Hume described it. Pope Benedict is a remarkable yet humble man who’s obvious love of God is wonderful thing to witness. America desperately needed Pope Benedict’s visit to remind us of what an important role Christianity plays in the civilized world today. America is the last hope for world peace and the civilized world. Make no mistake about it.

Next to Islamic terrorism, the biggest threat to this great country are the secular progressives. This being the far left Move On Dot Org extremists, liberalism, and individuals such as Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. These individuals champion socialism, cradle to grave welfare, and want nothing more than to remove God and guns from our society. These far left groups and elitist individuals believe government is God and they know what’s best for Americans. I hope and pray Pope Benedict’s short visit in America awakened everyone to the fact we need God in our society, now more than ever. We also can never surrender our rights to bear arms in America. Once that right is taken away from law abiding American citizens, our freedoms will be gone forever.

The Europeans fell victim to socialism, gun control, political correctness, and a Godless society and it isn’t working out very well for them. As a matter of fact, it is proving to be Europe’s demise resulting in the current Islamic threat and takeover. Mark Steyn has an eye-opening essay at NRO today that pretty much explains what America can look forward to should we submit ourselves to the secular progressives, liberalism, and remove God and Guns from law abiding Americans.
