Socialism Democrat Style
Category: Barack Obama, Current Events, Democrats, Elitist, Energy, Liberalism, Oil, SocialismIt obviously took $4.00 plus per gallon of gasoline and President Bush’s call for Congress to lift the ban on off-shore drilling to raise the socialist ire of our Democrat friends in Congress. Yesterday, these very same members of Congress who’ve obstructed off-shore drilling for years, went postal and displayed their true color of red when they heard Bush’s challenge.
For the past few weeks I’ve heard Democrat leaders having slips of the tongue and using the “N” word on on more than one occasion. The “N” word I’m speaking about is Nationalize; as in let’s nationalize the oil refineries and let the government show those greedy oil companies how it’s done. As I recall, this very same thing recently happened in Venezuela and we here in America were aghast. Not only did the Communist Thug Dictator Hugo Chavez nationalize his country’s oil companies, he also took control of his country’s television and radio stations just like the Democrats want to do in our country with their so-called “Fairness Act.” But let’s save that incredible story for another day. Here’s what several of our Democrat friends had to say:
House Democrats responded to President’s Bush’s call for Congress to lift the moratorium on offshore drilling. This was at an on-camera press conference fed back live. Among other things, the Democrats called for the government to own refineries so it could better control the flow of the oil supply.
They also reasserted that the reason the Appropriations Committee markup (where the vote on the amendment to lift the ban) was canceled so they could focus on preparing the supplemental Iraq spending bill for tomorrow.
At an off-camera briefing, House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) said the same. And a senior Republican House Appropriations Committee aide adds that “there were multiple reasons for the postponement” including discussion on the supplemental. But the aide said there was the thought that Democrats may wish to avoid a debate today on energy amendments.
Here are the highlights from briefing Rep. Maurice Hinchey (D-NY), member of the House Appropriations Committee and one of the most-ardent opponents of off-shore drilling. “We (the government) should own the refineries. Then we can control how much gets out into the market.”
The American people should be careful what they wish for because they just might get it. Our Democrat friends have promised us they will socialize health care, fund abortions, promote same sex marriage, dictate to businesses what they feel are reasonable profits, redistribute our income, prohibit our right to a free and open press, mandate how warm our homes will be, madate which light bulbs we can use, mandate our income, tell us which automobiles we can own, abolish the right not to belong to a union, and now this, the nationalization of our privately owned oil companies. I don’t know what school you all went to, but where I went to school they called this sort of thing Communism.
The contrived Democrat facade of a free market economy and capitalism is crumbling before our very eyes while the Democrats yearning for socialism comes shining through. The Democrats seemingly are walking down a very slippery slope with this one and hopefully it will do them in come the general election. These people are to be feared and what is really frightening, Barack Obama was rated the most liberal senator in congress according to The National Journal. So it’s fair to assume Socialism in America is what Comrade Obama actually means when he crows for Change. I find it difficult to believe freedom loving Americans are ready for this type of change.
