Union Card Check
Category: Barack Obama, Corruption, Democracy gone bad, Exposing The Left, UnionsLabor Unions can’t wait for President-Elect Obama to move into the White House so they can call in their chits. With Obama in the White House in conjunction with Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid assuming their thrones in Congress, it looks as if they will finally get their long sought after Employee Free Choice Act. This pleasant sounding piece of legislation would let union organizers bypass secret-ballot elections. Companies would then be forced to recognize a union if workers just signed cards in support of it. What a deal this is for the American worker and the evil rich guy who signs their paychecks. Say goodbye to the traditional democratic process of the secret ballot and say hello to the Trotskyite method of socialistic intimidation called card check.
The real danger here isn’t an Obama sitting in the White House. The real and present danger lies in a filibuster-proof Democrat Senate and a Democrat House majority who will bend over backwards to bow at the feet of the union thugs. If you don’t believe it, take a look at the much talked about GM bailout these clowns are supporting.
How long will it be before the union organizers show up at your home or workplace intimidating you to sign your card? Answer: Days after the “card check” bill is passed. I wonder how many people unknowingly voted themselves out of a job on November 4th?
Left of center writer Froma Harrop has an interesting article regarding this over at Real Clear Politics. Here’s and excerpt from her very interesting article. You can read the entire article here.
Sphere: Related ContentThe first campaign promise Barack Obama should break is to push through the Employee Free Choice Act. That harmless sounding piece of legislation would let union organizers do an end run around secret-ballot elections: Companies would have to recognize a union if most workers signed cards in support of it.
We’re not children here. We know how those majorities can be reached. There’s repeated harassment, bullying and more inventive tactics, such as getting workers drunk, then sliding sign-up cards under their noses. Meanwhile, any strong-armed tactics by employers can be dealt with.
Unclear is why unions even want to go there. Their decline is one reason for the falling fortunes of American workers, particularly those without college educations. Unions have an interesting product to sell. Surely, they can persuade workers to support them in the privacy of a voting booth. That’s how Obama and the enhanced Democratic majority in Congress got where they are.
