The question of his citizenship just baffles me. Numerous challenges, legal and otherwise, have been made throughout the country. All the man has to do is provide the necessary document to shut us all up. This issue scares me more than any of his other shortcomings. It also scares me that the issue has been pushed aside by the media. World Net Daily has a well documented story on this. I suggest you all read it. It;s also interesting that Bush even gets blamed for Obama’s silly press conferences. (Ed)

Ed, I just hope and pray that four years from now there is still a United States of America. I also hope that you can still stand up for Obama and say that he has done what needed to be done. If that should be the case, I will be happy to stand beside you and admit that I was wrong about him. For me, there are way too many questions as to his character and intentions. For the sake of the United States, I hope my feelings and those of multitudes of others are wrong.

Perhaps the pres elect would not need to conduct these kinds of silly press conferences if the current president took any leadership initiative on the economy (or anything else in the past year). Sad to see that Obama’s detractors now find fault with earnestness. What is next, do you criticize his courteousness or his punctuality?

Is there still a Constitution?? Or a court system that respects it? There is still that small matter of citizenship that needs to be resolved. Then again. maybe we should just do away with all the stuffy formalities and crown him now.

From the same article…which, IMO, did not display a condescending tone, whatsoever…But then again, I’m not reading it with that mentality.

“But the “Office of the President-Elect,” while critical in building the future government, has no official power — which Obama himself acknowledged during his victory speech in Chicago on Election Night.

“It is an office — it’s just a quasi-government office for planning the takeover of the government,” said Stephen J. Wayne, a professor at Georgetown University’s department of government.

“Obama has no formal power as far as the existing government is concerned, but he has a lot of informal influence, which President Bush has encouraged,” he added.

Wayne compared the function of the “Office of the President-Elect” to spring training in baseball.
“It doesn’t count in the standings, but it does contribute to a team’s ability to do well from day one,” he said.

The extensive operations and considerable funding for Obama’s transition office are not unique. President Bush received $8.5 million to fund his transition team — a sum that was “unprecedented at the time,” according to Georgetown University government professor Chris Hull.

“The Bush administration built their transition team a month before the election was over to make sure it would be a fully-functioning office on November 5,” he said.”

What I pull from this:

1. He admits it’s not an authoritative office.
2. Historically, the elect has already given a fair amount of thought as to their game plan and does have the ability to explain and plan the game plan to the public…Bush did it, too.
3. It takes the spotlight off President Bush and his approval rating, and the transition team must appear confident considering the economic crapstorm currently in progress.
4. The signs look somewhat cheesy.
